Religious Education
As a Catholic School, we believe that RE is the core of our curriculum, and more than just a subject. It underpins all that we are, and that we believe in as a school. Our school Mission Statement, “Living and Learning in Faith”, encompasses all we that we think, do and believe in. It is vital for all children to know they are cared for and loved deeply by God and all staff at Our Lady’s.
The outcome of excellent Religious Education is religiously literate and engaged young people who have the knowledge, understanding and skills – appropriate to their age and capacity – to reflect spiritually, and think ethically and theologically, and who are aware of the demands of religious commitment in everyday life.
The Aims:
- to promote knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith and life.
- to promote knowledge and understanding of the response of faith to the ultimate questions about human life, its origin and purpose.
- to promote the skills required to engage in examination of and reflection upon religious belief and practice.
- to provide a platform for children to relate the knowledge gained through Religious Education to their understanding of other subjects in the curriculum; RE allows children to develop
Curriculum time allocation:
