Attendance and Punctuality

At Our Lady's, we believe that attendance and punctuality are key to promoting high levels of achievement and ensure that children develop good habits for their working future.

The school day begins at 8:55am, but Breakfast Club is open between 8:00am and 8:40am every day, and the School Gate is opened at 8:40am for SODA (Start of the Day Activities) and a Classroom Breakfast.

We want all children to attend school every day - every absence results in lost learning.

To put this in perspective:

1 day off per school year means attendance will only ever reach 99.5%

10 days off per school year means attendance will only ever reach 94.7%

20 days off per school year means attendance will only ever reach 90%

If you are:

5 minutes late for school, you are missing 3 days in a school year

10 minutes late for school, you are missing 6 days in a school year

15 minutes late for school, you are missing 9 days in a school year

... and this does not take account of that important time at the beginning of each day when classes settle together and are introduced to the day's work ahead.

Please remember that if your child is unwell and unable to attend school, you should contact the School Office on 0161 480 5345 Option 1 to report an absence.  Alternatively, you can report an absence via School Spider.  If school have not received a notification of absence by 9:45am, we will contact you to establish the reason for your child's absence.
