Mini Vinnies

Mini-Vinnies.pngOur Lady’s Mini Vinnies has been established at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary since 2016. It enables a group of Year 6 children to work on making lives better for the school, the parish and the world community. Mini Vinnies has been developed from the Society of St Vincent de Paul but is aimed at enabling younger people to, “turn concern into action.” The actions of the Mini Vinnies groups have three components; See, Think and Do! The children work together to ‘See’ where there is a need, ‘Think’ about ways to help and ‘Do’ something about it.

Autumn 2022

This year's group of Mini Vinnies have already started their campaign with enthusiasm and drive. The group of 18 Year 6 children have helped to deliver the food donations from our recent Harvest Festival to The Olive Branch on Castle Street, Edgeley. The children witnessed, first hand, what a food bank looks like and it became a humble experience for them. The members of The Olive Branch were extremely grateful to the Mini Vinnies and the whole school community for their kind donations.

"It made me feel happy that unfortunate families have a warm meal but also made me feel sad that also families don't have what we have."

"I felt happy knowing that we had just helped a family have an evening meal tonight without them stressing about money and bills."
